Major Resources Taken
Humans take away animals from the chaparral environment. Especially in California, people hunt down animals such as coyotes, squirrels, deer, and others just to collect furs. We also cut down a lot of dead trees and even living trees for their own personal gain of firewood. And last but not least, they take away a lot of the fire burning plants (mainly in California) that surround their houses to protect themselves. But even though they remove those from outside, they are used for campfires at times even though they are unsafe.
Threats to the Environment |
Solutions |
The major threat to biodiversity in this area is pollution. Many people build their homes and stores all around the chaparral environment. The building of homes causes the air to be polluted which then effects all the plants and soil in the environment.
Another threat to biodiversity is the animals hunted in this biome. Majority of the animals in this biome are bound for extinction because people just want to hunt for the fun of it. Also, cork oak trees in the temperate woodland and shrubland environment is causing more and more trees to die; because they are being harvested for loads of money. Just the outer shell is being harvested and the rest of the tree stays in the biome. |
The main solution to pollution would be to not live near this area. Do not build homes right in or next to the chaparral. Live away from the area and then come to visit it when you want to enjoy it. There are always other quiet places to live.
Major solution to animals being hunted is.... DO NOT HUNT THEM. Let them live their lives (unless they somehow come into your community then obviously protect yourself). A way to conserve this would be to stop taking all of these trees from the same environment. These same type of trees are found in other forests. And the main way to conserve these type of trees before they are gone is....Do not harvest them. |
